WHY NOT HAVE A GO? Even if you don't think you can do it there's no harm in trying. Just remember your pet won't judge you for trying. They might just like you more for having a go.

First of all make time for your pet. Take a few minutes out of your busy schedule to speak opne-to-one with your pet as if you were speaking to another person.

It is my strong belief that all animals understand everything we say as they understand the intentions behind the words.

Tell them about any plans you have for the week that might affect their normal routine. Include any plans for visitors to the house or any holiday you may be taking. Talk to them about anything they did during the week that you disapproved of. Don't forget to tell them why you disapproved and ask for their co-operation in the future weeks on the issue. Remember not to use your pets as an emotional punchbag. Your problems are your problems not your dogs.

Then finally close your eyes and ask your pet if they have any questions for you. Accept anything that comes into your mind no matter how silly and respond appropriately. If you don't experience anything don't worry, say thank you and tell them you'll try again tomorrow.

What have you got to lose? If it works the bond with your pet gets stronger, if it doesn't the status quo remains.
